The Valley Vibe – Small Plates with Huge Local Flavor

At Essex Meadows, we take supporting local farmers and businesses, protecting our natural environment, and eating fresh, healthy, delicious food seriously. We are excited to invite you to experience all three during a special celebration of summer’s bounty this August. With participation from some of our local culinary treasures, we will enjoy samplings from Four Mile River Farm, Centerbrook Cheese Shop, Fromage Fine Foods & Coffee, Surfridge Brewing Company East, High Nine Brewery, Jon Fish’s Raw Bar, Chamard Vineyards, Jonathan Edwards Winery and more. Our own Director of Food & Beverage at Essex Meadows, the talented Matthew Whitbeck, and his team, will offer cooking demonstrations and tastings using local produce, all aimed at supporting local farms.

Environmental sustainability and preserving local veasures are at the heart of who we are and what we do every day at Essex Meaqows through undertakings like our Blue Earth Food Scrap Recycling Program, our meadow naturalization efforts to support wildlife, and our commitment to purchasing local food. Our use of solar power, geothermal heating and cooling, eco-friendly laundry, and low-flow plumbing for water preservation underscores those commitments. Meanwhile, our residents get to enjoy nature’s gifts throughout the year (and especially during these warm months) as they plant and harvest produce in the community garden and enjoy hikes on The Preserve, the pristine 1,000-acre forest that abuts our campus. Weather permitting, you might even take a golf cart ride out on the property and visit our resident gardens, solar installation, or woodland trails. At Essex Meadows, we like to say we are a “natural haven connected to modern culture.” We hope you will join us on August 9 so you can see – and taste – exactly what we mean.
