Jackie Carmona, CNA in the Health Center, joined the team at Essex Meadows two years ago. She works every weekend 7a-7p and picks up weekday shifts occasionally. Jackie is well respected by her supervisors and peers as she gives exceptional care to the residents. She can often be found engaging in meaningful conversations with the residents.
Jackie grew up in Puerto Rico in a large family with five sisters and one brother. She took on a caregiving role at the young age of 15 when her 16-year-old brother was in a car accident and was paralyzed from the waist down. The siblings all took turns caring for her injured brother. Jackie took much pride and enjoyment in caring for her brother and this led to her desire to become a CNA.
Prior to joining the team at Essex Meadows, Jackie worked for Clinton Nurseries in the inventory and shipping department for ten years. This job had her working outside year-round. Jackie’s husband has worked for Clinton Nurseries for 30+ years.
In 1999, Jackie moved back to the United States for good and she lives locally in Clinton with her husband Fernando and son Christopher. A fun fact to know is that Christopher works in the Essex Meadows main dining room on Sundays. Jackie also has a son Alexander who is 32 and has a career in banking. Although her two sons are 16 years apart, they have a very special bond and are very close.
When not at work, Jackie enjoys spending time with her family and two dogs Chester (12 y/o Poodle Shiatzu) and Thunder (puppy mini pure poodle), as well as cleaning and organizing. Jackie’s favorite sports team is the New England Patriots and enjoys watching the games.
When Jackie was asked what her favorite part is about working at Essex Meadows is, she replied with “Spending time with the residents in a very nice and clean environment. It is the best place I have ever worked. I love it. I found my forever home here and plan to be here until I retire.”
Thank you, Jackie, for all you do for the residents of Essex Meadows. We are so happy you found us and thankful you consider Essex Meadows to be your forever home.
