It is with great happiness and a warm heart that we congratulate Elina Aspilaire on receiving The Little Things award. It speaks highly of how well Elina and her work is perceived here at Essex Meadows.

This is a proud moment for the Environmental Services Department. By receiving this award, we recognize Elina’s honesty, dedication, leadership, hard work and unwavering loyalty.

Elina, inspires her team members every day by sharing her passion for life. After working here for 25 years, she remains a role model for our staff. We value Elina’s abilities so much that we have come to rely on her to train all our new employees in housekeeping.
Residents who reside in our community sing the praises of Elina’s positive personality, attention to detail and strong work ethic.

Elina was born in the country of Haiti. She speaks three languages: Creole, French and English. After moving to the United States, Elina took a housekeeping job at Essex Meadows in 1996. From the moment Elina started working, she has contributed to the success of Essex Meadows.

After working a day long shift at Essex Meadows, she would leave and go to her part time job at Chester Village West, where she achieved the position of dining room supervisor and worked for 23 years.

All this hard work enabled Elina to buy her own home in Deep River where she raised two wonderful children. Her daughter Vanessa is a registered nurse who just received her master’s degree in public health and her son Alan, works at Stop & Shop while attending Middlesex Community College.

As Elina’s director, I have had the opportunity to work with her for twenty years. There has not been a moment when she did not go beyond the call of duty. Elina even trained me when I first came to the Environmental Services Department. I am so thankful that she has an abundance of patience and a sense of humor. I could not have succeeded without her.

The following quote from Jennifer Rannestad sums up everyone’s feeling about Elina. “Elina and I have worked together for many years, and I deeply admire her dedication to her wonderful extended family and the joyous and capable way she performs her work. She is an inspiration to me on how to persevere and remain positive, she brings joy to us all.”

When Elina retires, she plans to return to Haiti.

Once again, thank you Elina for all your contributions to our community!
